↩ Hookback

Your sound stays yours.

Effective 27 August 2026. Hookback is designed to work without an account and without uploading the music you practice.

What stays on your device

Your chosen audio clips, A/B loop points, locally recorded answer analysis, MIDI note numbers, match scores, practice history, and pack names are stored in your browser using IndexedDB. Microphone recordings are analyzed in memory and discarded after the pitch track is produced. Hookback does not transmit clip or microphone audio.

Licenses and payments

If you buy or restore Hookback Studio, the license token and a cached verification result are stored in localStorage. Hookback sends only that token to the Sociobot billing API to check whether it is active. Checkout is hosted by Sociobot/Dodo, the merchant of record, under their own notices. We do not receive your card details.

Network and analytics

The app has no advertising, behavioral analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party fonts/scripts. The host may retain ordinary short-lived server access logs for security and aggregate page counting. Installing the offline app caches its code and artwork on your device.

Your controls

Use “Export my data” to make a JSON backup. It includes your chosen audio, so store it carefully. Remove individual hooks in the queue. Clearing this site’s browser data removes all local Hookback information. You can remove a Studio license inside the progress section.
